This is a very nice piece of cookware that should have a place in almost anyone's kitchen. It is great for making bread and I've done roasts and other things like that as well. The included silicone mate with handles is an awesome idea. I keeps bread from sticking and makes it so much easier to remove from the pan The included booklet has some nice recipes and tips and care instructions.
I first used it to bake bread, and the results were excellent. The 5.5-quart capacity is perfect for baking a standard sourdough loaf, and the shape of the pot makes the bread take perfect shape. Its three-layer enamel coating is not only durable, but also distributes heat evenly, ensuring that the bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with excellent baking results. The lid of the pot is very tight, which can retain the moisture needed by the bread during the baking process, making the bread more fluffier. What's more worth mentioning is that it also has a non-stick silicone mat to prevent food from sticking to the bottom, which is very easy to clean. The red appearance is also very attractive, whether it is used for baking bread or making other stews, it adds color to the kitchen.
This is the perfect Dutch oven for making sourdough bread! Love it so much!
The Krustic Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven is a great addition to any baker's collection. The shape of the dutch oven is unique with the lid being large and the pan being shorter, it's really great for baking bread. The book that comes with has the recipe for making your own sour dough starter and bread. It also works great for rolls-the lid keeps the moisture in while baking and makes a nice soft rolls with a nice crunchy exterior. The bottom has a 2 inch side and could also be used to roast a little chicken or vegetables in. The handles are very sturdy but for me a bit small with oven mats on-maybe a little improvement needed there but otherwise a quality dutch oven with many baking uses.
I'll update after my first loaf, but you can tell from the quality packaging and the look and feel of the product how well made it is. This would be a perfect gift or an addition to your own kitchen.
